History

The Seminar and Information Centre for Orff-Schulwerk “Orff-Institut” was founded in 1961 at the then Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg by Carl Orff and Dr. Eberhard Preussner with the support from the Austrian Ministry of Education. In 1983, the Orff-Schulwerk Centre Salzburg was founded by Dr. Hermann Regner as an independent non-profit organization registered in Austria. When the Orff Centre Munich was created in 1988, the name was changed to Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg. Finally, in 2014 the organization’s name changed to International Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg, assuming an increased area of responsibility.

The directors of the organization were Wilhelm Keller (1966 – 1982), Hermann Regner (1983 - 1994), Barbara Haselbach (1994 - 2018) and Shirley Salmon (2018 - present).

The IOSFS is a platform for international exchange, information about the Orff-Schulwerk, advice, publications, events and much more.
